Magume Stephen

Executive Director

Mr. Magume Rwabukwiire Stephen is the Executive Director of Action Coalition on Climate Change. He is professional environmentalist with a Master’s Degree in Zoology specialising in Fisheries Biology and Aquatic sciences. He is a member of a number of professional societies that include Ecological Society of East Africa (ESEA), Tropical Limnologists of East Africa and Uganda Wild life Society.

Mr. Magume has undertaken professional courses in Transboundary Water Management (TWM), Geographical Information System (GIS) for Strategic Biodiversity Conservation and Project Conceptualization and Preparation and Tropical Limnology among others

Mr. Magume has a wealth of working experience having served as a secondary school teacher, University lecturer, and Fisheries officer for a period of ten years.  He is passionate about researching into the fields of environment and natural resources management of both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. It is through such a wealth of experience that he has been able to effectively manage matters of natural resources docket, including, emerging phenomena such as climate change. Magume has read widely on the issues of climate change and its multifaceted effects on the various sectors of national economy. To him, climate change is the monster of the new century, which must be addressed with gusto.

Mr. Magume is a holder of a professional Master of Science Degree in Zoology specialising in Fisheries Biology and Aquatic Sciences and a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Zoology both of Makerere University. He majored in Natural Resources Ecology and Wild life Biology at undergraduate studies. Prior to this, Magume had acquired a professional Diploma in Education qualifying to teach Biology and Chemistry.

Mr. Magume has attended several short courses in various fields of knowledge and has served in both public and private institutions. For example, he has taught at secondary and tertiary institutional level.

Mr. Magume is currently serving as the Executive Director at Action Coalition on Climate Change (ACCC). With this placement, he has been able to guide the daily activities of the organisation through team playership. Various projects have been successfully implemented.  In short, ACCC has contributed positively to the development of mankind. ACCC’s contribution in the mining sector, specifically, gold-mining has been splendid.
